1-day trek to Humantay lake

Breathtaking scenery with alpine meadows, snow-capped mountains and turquoise-colored lake. Recommended for entry level, acclimatation purposes before taking longer journeys. The starting point, Soraypampa camp, is a lively backpackers' campsite (as you can see from the footage with link just below). It is situated at 3,900 meters, whereas the destination, Humantay lake, at 4,100 meters. The campsite is also used as stepstone to reach Machu Picchu in a 5 day journey known as the Salkantay trek. Breakfast and lunch are included. From Cusco to Soraypampa to Humantay lake forth and back. $65. Optional overnight in dome tent, with a view to the snow-capped mountains $192.

Route to Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, by Nature Andes


Day 1 : From hotel in Cusco distant 3h drive. Stop in Mollepata for breakfast. Leave Soraypampa to Humantay lake. Back to Soraycamp for lunch. Return to Cusco.

Optional stay in Soraypampa for overnight in a dome tent, leave at 10 am next day to Cusco.
