5-day Salkantay trek
to Machu Picchu

● Van from Cusco to Mollepata, and return from Aguas Calientes back to Cusco (optional return by train)

● Itineraty and reservations from Lima

Itinerary

Day 1 (16 kilometers of walk): Cusco to Mollepata by transport. Hike to the Soraypampa camp passing through the Huamantay lagoon. Overnight in Soray dome ecocamp.

Day 2 (22 kilometers of walk): Hike to the ‘Abra Salcantay’ - town of Chaullay. Climate change from alpine to tropical.

Day 3 (16 kilometers of walk): Hike descending to ‘Playa Sahuayaco’ to town of Santa Teresa.

Day 4 (16 kilometers of walk): Hike to Hydroelectric station to Aguas Calientes.

Day 5 (bus to Machu Picchu): Take a bus to the entrance gate to Machu Picchu. Return to Cusco by train and bus.
